In Seinfeld’s “The Serenity Now,” Frank Costanza shouts a doctor-recommended relaxation phrase during an argument about car legroom. The demand for calm becomes a joke about irritation that refuses to stay contained. A cramped blue car seat and its adjustment mechanism press against large cream words on a red field. The emphatic demand for calm makes a visual joke out of Frank’s frustrated attempt to relax.
The Serenity Now · Season 9, Episode 3
Frank argues with Estelle over cramped car legroom and a seat mechanism, then shouts the relaxation phrase his doctor's cassette recommended for high blood pressure. George questions whether it should be yelled. Later the method spreads and Lloyd explains that it bottles anger until it erupts; Kramer destroys the stored computers after suppressing his anger. This is comic false calm, not successful mindfulness.
